Adult workshops: 2026 and 2027

Once a month, join Alexandra in her Hanau studio to explore a technique or theme in a small, welcoming group. Beginners and experienced makers are welcome.

Workshops are taught in German, or in English or Spanish if the whole group speaks that language. Alexandra is happy to translate throughout. Coffee, tea and biscuits are provided. Please bring your own lunch, an apron and house shoes, and wear old clothes. A minimum of 3 participants is required; each course below states its maximum group size.

Adult workshops require a 50% deposit, with the balance due two weeks before the workshop. Please read the Terms and Conditions. Booking is not open yet.

5 December 2026: Layers of Expression, Mixed Media Collage. Explore textures, layers, images and personal storytelling. Materials provided; personal collage materials are welcome. German, with English or Spanish on request. No fixed Christmas theme.

30.01.2027 · Layers of Expression: Exploring Mixed Media Collage

Create art by assembling different materials onto a surface. Learn about the history of collage and why Mixed Media collage is such a liberating practice. Discover personal storytelling through layers and textures, using found objects, meaningful images and text to evoke emotion.
Materials provided. Bring personal materials if you wish, such as pictures, scraps, leaves or dried flowers. Everyone is welcome.

26.–27.02.2027 · 3D Wire & Paper Sculpture: The Weekend Masterclass
Day 1: 10:00–15:00; day 2: 10:00–15:00 · 240 €
Transform simple wire and paper into compliment-worthy sculptures.

In this multi-day studio experience, you will learn how to bend dynamic wire armatures, build three-dimensional volume, and apply intricate paper-mâché, vintage text, and acrylic finishes. By spreading our process across two days, your sculpture cures completely overnight, giving you total creative freedom to layer rich colors, textures, and protective seals on a solid foundation.
Two-day workshop, each day with a short break. Maximum 6 participants for personalised guidance. All wires, wooden bases, specialty papers, paints, mediums and refreshments included.
Each day includes a 30-minute break, giving nine hours of studio time in total.

13.03.2027 · Flow & Light: A Deep Dive into Watercolor Magic

Explore brushes, papers and pigments. Understand water balance for soft and hard edges and the role of light and layering in watercolor. Experiment with different methods and learn to adjust highlights, contrast and details. For beginners and adventurers.
Some materials provided. Bring your own watercolor set, favourite brushes and professional paper. A materials list will be provided after registration.

17.–18.04.2027 · Modelling of a Human Torso or a Human Head
Day 1: 10:00–17:00; day 2: 11:00–16:00 · 290 €
Join this inspiring workshop with a short introduction to artistic anatomy, human and animal. Learn to sculpt a human torso or head using polymer clay over a wire and aluminium foil armature, focusing on anatomical proportions, details and finishing techniques. Everyone is welcome.

Expressionistic painting was the historic revolution of the German art movement in the early twentieth century. Learn figurative painting in an abstract style, exploring layering, gestural strokes and unconventional tools for texture. Express emotional intensity, raw energy and boldness. Everyone is welcome.
Brushes, basic acrylic colours, palette knives and other tools are provided. Bring a canvas no larger than 60 × 60 cm; your preferred additional colours are welcome.

A Full-Day Studio Intensive with Paper, Acrylics & Intuitive Collage.

Unplug from the routine and step into the studio for an immersive, day-long exploration of texture, storytelling, and visual depth. In this intensive full-day workshop, you will learn how to blend raw paper elements, vintage ephemera, and acrylic paint into evocative, multidimensional artworks.

Whether you want to discover new techniques for your creative practice or build a unique statement piece from scratch, this course guides you through every layer of the mixed-media process in an intimate, supportive setting.

What You Will Learn & Create
1. Preparing & Building Surfaces: How to prime board/heavy paper and apply initial background washes, script, and vintage paper textures.
2. The Art of the Cut-Out & Composition: Selecting focal images, playing with organic vs. geometric cuts, and anchoring surreal or botanical motifs.
3. Paint, Washes & Color Harmony: Using acrylic washes, transparent layers, and line-making to seamlessly fuse paper cutouts into the painted background.
4. Tactile Finishes & Mark-Making: Working with oil pastels, thread, gold leaf, or ink markers to add expressive final details and pops of contrast.
